#MyFabJourney: Valeria

Reading Time: 2 minutes

I didn’t have a goal in mind when I downloaded Fabulous.

As a graphic designer, I’m always looking for design inspiration. While I was looking through the play store, I found Fabulous in the list of best apps and it caught my attention. After a quick glance over the great reviews and seeing that it won a Google award, I decided to give it a shot and downloaded it.

As I was going through the process of using Fabulous, I began finding the concept of habit building really intriguing (I also really loved the letters of encouragement that accompanied each journey). But I never finished any of the journeys I was on.

Fast-forward a year or two later, and I was using another app to exercise and it was going great, but I found myself having a hard time with motivation to jump into my healthy routine after an extended weekend or holiday. So I remembered Fabulous… and downloaded it again!

After giving it some thought, I made the decision of paying for the annual subscription, which was a blessing as it forced me to commit to the completing the journeys.

I couldn’t believe how well it was going! I started with the Sphere journeys, and was able to successfully complete the first one. I’m now exercising 6 times a week, and I’m doing it now because I want to keep the commitment to myself. Not because I have to do it.

The 5th letter was really inspiring to me. I’ve always had a hard time with motivation and not falling into excuses when I was tired, busy or, or just didn’t want to do anything. But after making a list of the goals I wanted to achieve and how I was going to accomplish these goals, I started to see a change in my own behavior.

Now, I’m in my second journey and I have a better understanding of the importance of self-discipline, and I’m so grateful for that. The first journey was a huge step for my change. It was what started it all for me! All the frustration I was feeling before using the app was because I was disappointing myself, and not being true to myself nor following my decisions and will.

Today, I can say that I’m a lot more disciplined. For example, I’m not much of a morning person, but after using Fabulous and understanding why mornings are great for a little exercise (among other activities), I decided to give it a try. Now, I exercise every morning unless I get too busy (then I’ll shift it to the afternoon).

By creating these easy routines that I can stick to, I’m also feeling a lot more confident and energized when I wake. I get to start every day with a burst of life!
