5 Self-Care Activities to Get You Through to 2019

The end of the year can be a crazy-stressful time for people all over the world. For many of us, upcoming winter holidays are a whirlwind of activity that can be hard to keep up with. For others, final exams are coming, and others still are scrambling to prepare for the upcoming new year. Whatever has got you frazzled this month, self-care activities are probably not even on your radar, but Fabulous is here to help. In fact, it’s our specialty!

So let’s start the new year off on the right foot with a simple and quick breathing exercise. Taking an energizing breath every morning to help you start your day with a positive outlook so you can focus your attention on achieving your goals..

Now that you’re ready, we’ve listed some some self-care activities to get you through 2019, in honor of being featured as one of Apple’s Best Apps for self-care in 2018, .

Stay hydrated.

One of the first things the Fabulous app teaches new users is the importance of drinking water. Drinking water, particularly first thing in the morning, keeps us alert feeling good. Our bodies are 70% water, but we lose a lot of that through sweat and urine. That’s why it’s so vital to drink water throughout your day! Try gulping down a nice, heaping glass of water each morning and keep a water bottle handy to sip as you go through your day. We promise you’ll notice a difference!

Meditate.

It’s a busy, busy time of year. When you’re caught up in the current end-of-the-year preparations or holiday shenanigans, try setting aside some time to meditate. A few minutes of focused breathing can help keep you grounded when the rest of the world feels crazy. We especially recommend a ten-minute Make Me Fabulous mediation called “The Value of the Present Moment.”

Schedule some “Me Time.”

Lots of people visit relatives or close friends this time of year. Being around other people can be lots of fun, especially for extroverts, but it’s just as important to take some time for yourself, too. Being alone is healthy and can be incredibly enriching when you realize there’s no one around to impress and no compromises to be made. You can binge-watch that show no one else wanted to watch, take a long, decadent bath, or explore a hobby. Or, for some really special me time, take yourself on a date.

Exercise.

We know, we know. Making time to exercise is probably the last thing on your mind right now! But injecting some exercise into your daily routine is just as important this time of year as it ever was, even more so. Not only will it keep you fit and healthy, but you’ll also be able to expel some of that pent-up stress we all build throughout the day. Get some sleep.

The stress and excitement of the end of the year can wreak havoc on your sleep schedule, especially as the days get longer or shorter, depending on where you live. But we need sleep to be at our best, so it’s paramount to take your sleep habits seriously. That’s why Fabulous has built a whole journey out of making sure you get the sleep you deserve. Self-care can mean different things to different people. That’s why we at Fabulous do everything we can to ensure we approach wellness as comprehensively as we can.
